As the capital of Japan, Tokyo offers strong internship placements and never a loss for things to do--enjoy fresh seafood, explore the art and history of the city, and don't miss the shopping. Tokyo is truly a global city which many international professionals, expats, and travelers call home. Thus, the city is easy to navigate with its extensive metro which has signs in Japanese and English. The city is incredibly clean and safe, too. An internshi in Tokyo will provide you experience in one of the worlds fastest-moving economies with placements available in a wide range of industries. Being a global economic hub, supervisors' expectations of interns tend to be higher than in other ISA Internships locations and knowing some Japanese could prove helpful in a country where most people don't speak English. This is a great city to gain exposure to the working world!

ISA Internships has partnered with Carroll College in Helena, Montana, to offer a U.S. transcript and award 6 upper division internship academic credits for ISA Internships set-date, 8-week programs. Credit awarded will be based on the successful completion of written academic assignments, evidence of reflective learning, and an evaluation from your host organization supervisor. The additional cost of academic credit is $300, and includes a transcript with an A-F letter grade from Carroll College.

In order to be eligible for transfer credit from Carroll College, participants must be full-time students who have completed at least 45 credit hours, or recent graduates from a bachelor degree program. Participants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Please note that some placements may have more stringent eligibility requirements.

Academic credit is only available for ISA's standard 8-week programs.

Students may work with their home university to receive academic credit for their program. Each academic institution has a unique policy for granting internship credit. Each academic institution has a unique policy for granting internship credit, thus students should inquire about receiving academic credit with their home university advisors, professors, and/or academic department heads.

Interns earning credit through their home institution will still have select assignments required to be completed by ISA as part of their program. 

Interns are placed in furnished, centrally-located social residences--similar to a shared apartment. Interns will have a private room with a shared living room, bathrooms, and furnished kitchen. Each apartment is equipped with basic furnishings and supplies, including one single bed (per student), a closet/clothing storage space, basic cookware and kitchenware, laundry facility in complex, chairs and furnished sitting area. Bed linens are provided for you. 

U.S. citizens are not required to apply for a visa before departing for Japan if their program is 90 days or less.

Please note that non-U.S. citizens should contact their Consulate to verify specific entry requirements. As these requirements vary based on citizenship, non-U.S. citizens may not be permitted to travel to Japan without a visa or outside of their visa dates. Also, visa fees for non-U.S. citizens may differ so please be sure to check specific consulate's website for the most up to date information.
